March in the Rome Honor America Days 2016

From Scoutmaster Obernesser:
Please let me know if you would like to march in the Honor America Days in Rome on July 30.

MORE INFORMATION:
Last fall while putting the Camporee at Ft Stanwix together, we were asked to provide a color guard for the Lake Delta Kiwanis at the Honor America Days parade. This is scheduled for July 30 at 9:30 AM. The theme is Ft. Stanwix 110 Ann. of the Nat. Parks system and the first place the ‘Stars and Stripes’ were flown in battle against a foreign advocacy. Scouts are asked to bring their colors and meet on the south end of Franklin Field, which is located on the west side of Black River Boulevard about a ½ mile north of Ft. Stanwix. This would be a great community exposure for Scouts. Can we get something out to units on this??

Potential Eagle Projects

From Scoutmaster Obernesser:

This morning I met with Art Simmons, the Director of the Rome Historic Society. He has a project in mind for a potential Eagle Project. It includes work at the Lower Landing on Martin St. in Rome. (If you were at the fall camporee at Ft. Stanwix, you may remember the place we cleared trees and brush. That is the Lower Landing.) The project includes filling in an old privy pit to preserve it and to build a couple of picnic tables. If you are interested, please contact me.

There is also a possible Eagle project at the Fort, building picnic tables. The Park Superintendent Frank Barrows spoke to me about this last fall. Again, if interested contact me.

Waterball Tournament on June 16

Troop 59 is having its annual Waterball Tournament on June 16th at 6pm at the Deerfield Fire Dept. (DFD Annual Field Days).

All you will need is 5 Boy Scouts (and a change of clothes). Raincoats and helmets/goggles are optional. From 2 different directions 2 teams will spray water at a ball on a wire trying to move it to the other end. Depending on the number of teams, we will have a round robin competition till we have a winner.

Possible Service Project

The Boilermaker is looking for a volunteer crew to help with Expo clean-up. It would be from about 10-4, in shifts maybe, on Saturday, July 9th, at MVCC.

Please let Scoutmaster Obernesser know if you can work this event or not. He would need to see responses before he can commit the troop.
